Undercurrent III - Original abstract drawing in archival pigment ink on heavyweight 300GSM paper. Part of the Undercurrent series. A monumental cascading form dominates the composition, descending from the upper left corner and filling the page with dense, voluminous folds. A central vein divides the form like the midrib of a vast leaf or the longitudinal fissure of the brain, and from this axis, massive lobes billow outward in alternating directions - swelling, curling under, and folding back in deep, layered formations. The line work is at its most concentrated here: hundreds of parallel strokes compress into the crevices between folds, creating passages of near-black density, while the outermost crests carry widely spaced lines that suggest taut, light-struck surfaces. The scale and weight of this piece set it apart. Where other works in the series suggest suspension and drift, this form has gravity and mass. It pushes against the edges of the page. The folds are thicker, more muscular, more insistent - less like something floating and more like something that has been accumulating for a long time and is now slowly, irrevocably, making itself known.
